Starbucks and Moby Dick

So the name of the Coffee company Starbucks being the same as the name of first mate Starbuck in Moby dick is no coincidence. One of the founders favorite novels was Moby Dick.
He originally proposed naming the company Pequad after the ship but it was shot down. His co-founders suggested the name Starbo after a mining camp on Mt. Ranier, and was in turn phonetically associated with Starbuck the first mate. This resulted in the final decision of naming the place Starbucks. :) cool.
